MoorSpace Named a European Finalist for External Storage Site of the Year

We are incredibly proud to announce that MoorSpace Storage Co has been selected as a finalist for External Storage Site of the Year at the FEDESSA 2026 European Self Storage Awards.

Being shortlisted alongside some of the leading self storage operators from across Europe is a significant achievement for our Huddersfield-based business - and an important milestone in the MoorSpace journey.

What does being a European finalist mean?

The award recognises much more than the appearance of an external storage facility.

As part of the judging process, MoorSpace has been assessed across several areas of the business, including:

• Business performance and future development

• Site appearance and presentation

• Security measures

• Customer service

• Marketing and online presence

• Pricing strategy

• Community involvement

• Environmental considerations

In other words, the judging considers the complete customer experience and how effectively the storage facility is managed, developed and promoted.

For MoorSpace, this includes the investment we have made in our facilities and security, the technology we use to make accessing storage straightforward, the way we support our customers and our involvement in Huddersfield and the wider community.

FEDESSA advised that the standard of submissions was exceptionally high and that reaching the final is a significant achievement. To have our work recognised by the self storage industry at a European level means an enormous amount to the whole MoorSpace team.

Our self storage journey

Our journey began in Huddersfield in 2018 as George Street Self Storage.

Since then, we have continued to learn, invest and improve, always looking for ways to offer our customers a secure, accessible and reliable storage experience.

Over the years, the business has grown considerably. Our development culminated in the rebrand to MoorSpace Storage Co earlier this year, creating an identity that reflects both our Huddersfield roots and our ambitions for the future.

Although the name has changed, our priorities remain the same: providing high-quality storage facilities, looking after our customers and continually finding ways to improve.

Being named a finalist shows just how far the business has come since 2018. It also recognises the work that happens behind the scenes - from maintaining and securing the site to investing in technology, supporting the local community and ensuring every customer receives a friendly and professional service.

Proudly representing Huddersfield

MoorSpace is proud to be an independent Huddersfield business, so the opportunity to represent the town on the European stage makes this recognition even more special.

We have always believed that a strong local business should play an active role in its community. Alongside providing storage for local residents and businesses, we are proud to support a number of local organisations, charities and sporting partnerships.

Community involvement is an important part of MoorSpace, and we are pleased that this has been considered as part of the judging process.

The winner will be announced at the FEDESSA European Self Storage Awards in Germany next month, and we would, of course, love to bring the award home to Huddersfield.

Whatever happens on the night, being named as one of Europe’s leading external storage sites is already an achievement of which we are immensely proud.
